Makeup & Beauty Blog Poll

So Makeup & Beauty Blog apparently does a poll on Mondays for whatever reasons she sees fit.  I thought this particular post seemed like fun and decided I would go ahead and answer the questions too.  What better way to get to know each other than by answering random questions right?

1. Is there a story behind your name and how you got it?
My name dates back to the beginning of time... literally... the beginning of internet time in particular.  When the internet was first created I was known all over the bulletin boards (which eventually evolved into chat rooms and instant messaging which honestly isn't even close to being as good as bulletin boards were) and email sites as Slushey (there is a long drawn out story about how that name came about and why it is spelled with an e which I will spare you from.)  Anyhow, after a few years went by and more and more email sites cropped up and bulletin boards morphed into other things, randoms would sign up under already well known names such as my own to try and impersonate the well knowns, and log on name requirements became more complicated.  When this started to happen on occasion I would not be able to use Slushey but still needed to be able to identify who I was.  In these instances I made it clear that I was the Original Slushey of the world wide web and because I have been known as this individual for what has now been a few decades there isn't much point in bothering to change it.

2. If Hollywood made a movie based on your life, who would play the main parts?
Probably Jessica Rabbit.  Oh wait...

3. Have you ever gone out on stage to accept an award?
I'm sure I have, but some events I just don't commit to memory.  Accepting awards falls under my "easily forgotten" category.

4. When was the last time you were moved to tears by something beautiful?
I cry a lot.  I'm sure it was recent.  I'm basically a big softie.

5. What’s your worst quality?
Oh jeez!  Where do I begin?

6. What’s your current favorite shampoo, conditioner or shower gel and why?
I actually don't have any favorites in these categories.  I happen to think hair care products in particular have gone to pot over the last 15 to 20 years.  As far as shower gels go there are many decent ones and for me they are either good or bad with not much in between and not much that could make any one type exceptional.

7. Are you competitive?
Yes.  Hehe

8. What’s been your favorite fall makeup collection this year?
I've not been that impressed with any, so there you go.  There have been some nice products in general but I'm not one to go gaga over collections most of the time.  They have all been done before and I don't buy expensive items just for the packaging.

9. How did you learn to drive?
Well, my grandmother used to let me sit on her lap when I was a kid and steer, I asked tons of questions about driving as a kid, I learned the rules of the road on a bicycle which are similar to the rules for a car, a company was forced to give us a rental car at one point and since they got us a piece of crap Chevette I talked my mom into letting me and my friend from high school drive it around the back roads with her supervision when we were 14 and 15 respectively, and then I got my temps when I was 15 and a half and took driver's education like everyone else.

10. When you think, “sophisticated and pretty,” what’s the first beauty brand that comes to mind?
This one is kind of hard for me because there a lot of brands that I think of as sophisticated and lots that I think of as pretty, but I can't really think of one that jumps out at me as both.  I guess for me the two don't necessarily go hand in hand.
